Mongrel databases

A multi-database client for 30+ engines

Work with more than thirty database engines in one shared interface - relational systems, document stores, cloud platforms, analytics engines, and key-value stores - alongside terminals, file transfer, containers, and Kubernetes.

How database support ships

Native support for MongrelDB and MongoDB is built into every build. Every other engine is delivered as a signed first-party database plugin that you install from inside the app, so an installation only carries the drivers you actually use. Mongrel connects to your existing database services - it does not provision servers or clusters for you.

Vendor runtime requirements

Three engines connect through vendor client runtimes that you install separately. Licenses and entitlements for these runtimes remain your responsibility.

Oracle Database

Requires a user-installed Java 25 runtime and an unmodified, SHA-pinned Oracle JDBC Thin JAR. Mongrel verifies the pinned JAR before connecting.

IBM Db2 & Informix

Require a user-installed IBM clidriver obtained from IBM. Mongrel does not distribute IBM runtime files, and Windows ARM64 is unsupported for these engines.

SAP SQL Anywhere

Requires a user-installed SAP client runtime. Mongrel discovers common install locations or accepts a folder you select.

One workbench for every database you run.

Try Mongrel for 7 days and connect to the services you already run. Run queries, execute commands in shell, and check on your cluster all in one place.
