Mongrel warns before sending plaintext FTP credentials and marks unencrypted sessions. FTPS does not silently fall back: certificate or hostname failures stop the connection. Passwords and encrypted-key passphrases use the operating system credential facility when available.

Which file-transfer protocols does Mongrel support?
Mongrel has standalone profiles for FTP, explicit FTPS, and implicit FTPS. SSH terminal profiles include SFTP with automatic SCP fallback when a server disables the SFTP subsystem.
What is the difference between FTP, FTPS, and SFTP?
FTP is unencrypted and Mongrel warns before credentials are sent. FTPS adds TLS to FTP. SFTP is a different protocol carried over SSH, with SCP available as a fallback for restricted SSH hosts.
Does Mongrel support explicit and implicit FTPS?
Yes. Explicit FTPS upgrades a standard FTP connection with TLS, while implicit FTPS starts with TLS immediately. Both verify certificates and protect control and data channels.
Can Mongrel transfer multiple folders and files?
Yes. The dual-pane File Manager supports multi-select and range selection, drag and drop, recursive upload and download, progress, cancellation, rename, delete, and new-folder actions.
Does Mongrel remember my local folder?
Yes. Each File Transfer profile remembers its local root and last subfolder. Persistent File Manager tabs restore that working location when the connection is reopened.
