Windows and Samba shares in the same File Manager.
Mongrel talks to SMB/CIFS shares with SMB2/3 and NTLM. Host, share, optional domain, and a keychain password. Resume continues a partial file. Dest SHA-256 is checked after download.

// Connections → File Transfer → SMB
Host, share, and NTLM. Port 445 unless you say otherwise.
Test Connection lists the share root, then Save. Some networks block SMB; the host and port must be reachable from this machine.
// What ships
LAN shares with a real file manager.
Windows and Samba shares
SMB2/3 over port 445 by default. Enter the share name only (archive), not \\host\archive. Optional Domain is sent as DOMAIN\user for NTLM.
The same File Manager
SMB is a File Transfer profile. Dual panes, Name/Size sort, a non-selectable .. row, remembered local folders, and the Transfers drawer match FTP and S3.
Resume and dest verify
Resume continues a local .name.mongrel-partial and writes from the matching remote offset. After a download, Mongrel re-hashes the dest (SHA-256) and fails if the bytes changed on disk.
NTLM password in the keychain
Username and password stay in the OS keychain. Guest is an empty password. Secrets never enter Connection Sync or export.
Licensed writes, free reads
Open, Test, uploads, rename, mkdir, and delete require a license or trial. Listing and download of an existing session do not.
// FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Is Mongrel an SMB client?
Yes. Connections → New Connection → File Transfer → SMB creates a standalone profile for Windows and Samba shares. Connect or Open File Manager to browse the share.
What do I put in Share and Domain?
Share is the share name only. Domain is the optional Active Directory or workgroup name. Put the username in Username, not DOMAIN\user.
Does Mongrel support Kerberos or DFS?
Kerberos / SSO is not supported. Guest-only servers that reject NTLM are not supported. DFS namespace browsing is not a first-class tree of referrals; the client follows DFS targets when a path is covered elsewhere.
Is this Azure Files?
SMB talks to a host and share over SMB2/3. Native Azure Blob REST is a separate File Transfer protocol. Azure Files over SMB can work when the share accepts NTLM on port 445.
Are downloads locked without a license?
No. Listing and download of an existing session stay available. Open, Test, uploads, and remote mutations require an active license or trial.
